RAXADA PROJECT: A return to craft rooted in the north
RAXADA PROJECT takes its name from the Asturian word Raxada, meaning ray of sunlight. The project was founded by Marina Palacio Silva and María Puente Silva as a shared response to a long-held desire: to reconnect craftsmanship and fashion through a practice grounded in place, time, and material knowledge.
Growing up in northern Spain shaped their relationship with manual work and with the hands that transform raw matter into identity. After years spent living in large cities, both founders felt the need to return and create from Asturias, surrounded by nature. This return became the starting point for Raxada Project — not as a nostalgic gesture, but as a conscious decision to build a contemporary creative practice rooted in local culture and lived experience.
Local creation as cultural continuity
Raxada Project is guided by the belief that fashion and jewellery can act as vehicles for cultural continuity. The brand defends a way of creating that places people, processes, and knowledge at the centre, in contrast to an industry shaped by decades of textile offshoring and loss of local production. Reviving the textile tradition is understood as both a cultural and social responsibility.
Collective work, dialogue between past and present, and respect for ancestral techniques form the foundation of the project’s values. Creating locally becomes an act of resistance — a means of preserving identity while proposing new narratives for contemporary fashion. Through each piece, Raxada reconnects with oral tradition, popular culture, and the artisanal wisdom of northern Spain.
Research, craftsmanship, and sustainable practice
Both founders define themselves as artisans, despite their background in contemporary design. María Puente Silva has devoted years to researching ancestral textile techniques, combining this work with social engagement within the fashion sector. Her practice is rooted in understanding textiles as carriers of cultural memory, shaped by community, gesture, and time.
Marina Palacio Silva is trained in goldsmithing and contemporary jewellery design. Her work is deeply process-driven, with the jeweller’s bench serving as both the beginning and the end of her creative journey. She experiments with organic materials, recycled metals, and alternative production methods, developing jewellery through a sustainable and materially conscious approach. Each piece reflects a commitment to innovation, environmental responsibility, and respect for cultural heritage.
Fashion and jewellery as living narratives
Raxada Project develops fashion and jewellery as narrative objects rather than isolated products. Each creation carries traces of landscape, memory, and collective knowledge, translating the rhythms of nature and the patience of artisanal work into form and material.
Collections move fluidly between tradition and experimentation, balancing ancestral techniques with contemporary design language. Through clothing and jewellery, Raxada tells stories that reconnect with cultural roots while proposing new ways of understanding local creation — pieces designed not only to be worn, but to carry meaning, continuity, and identity over time.
