A Parisian brand shaped by movement
Vaillant was founded in Paris in 2020 by designer Alice Vaillant. Born and raised in an artistic environment, she learned to sew in her grandmother’s costume atelier before training for over a decade at the Paris Opera Ballet School and working within the ateliers of the Paris Opera Garnier. These formative years shaped a disciplined yet expressive understanding of movement, form, and storytelling, establishing a lasting relationship between the body and clothing.
After leaving dance, Alice Vaillant pursued fashion design studies in Montreal and completed a Master’s in Womenswear in Paris. Her professional experience at Jean Paul Gaultier Couture and at Nina Ricci under Rushemy Botter refined her approach to construction, sensuality, and contemporary femininity. Vaillant emerged as a natural continuation of this journey, translating architectural precision and fluid movement into a distinctive modern womenswear language.
Her work has been recognised with the Ville de Paris Prize and as a two-time finalist of the Andam Pierre Bergé Prize in 2023 and 2024, cementing Vaillant’s position as a label rooted in craftsmanship, personal narrative, and a confident contemporary vision.
VAILLANT: empowered femininity in motion
Ballet and movement lie at the heart of Vaillant’s vision. A decade at the Paris Opera Ballet shaped a design language where discipline meets deconstruction, bending classical codes to create bold, contemporary silhouettes. Movement is not an aesthetic reference but a method — a way of understanding how the body moves, resists, and occupies space.
Rooted in French heritage and artisan savoir-faire, the brand looks forward through a modern, sometimes futuristic lens. Vaillant’s identity is built on contrast: layered fabrics, sharp cuts, delicate lace, and sculptural outerwear coexist in a wardrobe that balances precision and fluidity. Feminine empowerment remains central, reinterpreting traditional codes to celebrate strength, sensuality, and individuality.
Influenced by post-modern architecture, collections evolve toward abstraction and geometry, echoing the spaces that host the brand’s shows and campaigns. Vaillant exists as a transformative wardrobe — a dialogue between past and future, structure and movement, confidence and freedom.
European production and responsible craftsmanship
Vaillant’s production is rooted in Europe, with garments manufactured across France, Portugal, and Poland, including a significant share produced in France. Keeping production close allows careful control over quality, working conditions, and consistency between design intent and execution.
Materials are sourced primarily from France and Italy and include Oeko-Tex certified fabrics, Calais lace - often incorporating pre-consumer deadstock — and responsibly developed components. Craftsmanship plays a central role, with select lace pieces assembled by hand and ongoing efforts to reduce environmental impact through responsible sourcing and packaging. Production volumes remain controlled to preserve both quality and integrity.
Vaillant’s current collections present a bold yet controlled womenswear wardrobe where tailoring, body-con silhouettes, lace, and outerwear coexist in deliberate tension. Each season builds on recurring codes — transparency, layering, sharp construction, and tactile contrast — while evolving through new proportions and materials.
Collections are presented in architecturally significant Paris venues, reinforcing the brand’s spatial and conceptual dialogue. The result is clothing designed to move with the body and adapt to different moments, offering pieces that feel assertive, sensual, and enduring. Vaillant positions fashion not as ornament, but as transformation — a living extension of movement, strength, and identity.
